Urban Garden pitches in to repair St. James Park

January 05, 2012

Urban Garden was delighted to have an opportunity to help repair the damage to St James Park caused by the month-long Occupy Toronto demonstration.

The damage was extensive. Most of the turf had been destroyed and the underlying soil was severely compacted.

Under the Direction of Landscape Ontario, the province’s association of horticultural trades and suppliers, a volunteer group tackled the restoration project on December 7th. In two days they had not only repaired the damage, but also pruned trees, cultivated the beds and fertilized the plants.

Member companies of Landscape Ontario contributed thousands of hours of labour, seventy loads of soil and 10,000 rolls of sod.

In our humble opinion, the park has never looked better!
